Comics Database, And This Time I Mean It
July 24, 2006
Ok, I have nothing else to get in my way now, with the exception of reading, the Wesley Acres web site and finishing Paper Mario, of starting and finishing my comics database program. I am thinking it is going to take a few steps before the programming happens, such as determining what data to collect, what features I want and then designing the database. During this time, I have lost my mind and am allowing you to determine what language I will be programming it in.? The choices are listed below:
- Plain PHP – Similar to the MizCD project, I would do the entire thing in straight PHP.
- PHP Framework – I would choose one of the popular PHP frameworks, such as CakePHP, Symfony, Zend, or something like that.? This would allow me to program in a framework setting but in the familiar PHP.
- Ruby on Rails – This would force me to put up my dukes and take on Rails head on.
I am pretty open to other suggestions as well, as long as they will run on my web host.? This probably means no ASP.NET, I think.? Use the sidebar widget to vote, the polls will remain open as long as it take for me to come up with the features and database design.
